Smart cars for small people who can hear.

This cut has sound now, and the final title card at the end, but it’s still missing one quick snap zoom closeup on the traffic light turning green.

This is a rough cut of a spec ad for Smart Cars.  The text at the end isn’t final, and there’s no sound yet.

Music Video B-Roll

This is b-roll footage I shot for a music video last semester.  I had no idea what kind of stuff the director wanted, all I knew was he wanted it to be “edgy.”  I’m not sure exactly how much of this made it into his video, but this is what I gave him.  This was all shot with a hand-cranked 16mm Bolex camera, a still camera flash (all the stuff with Ghandi is stop-motion, shot one frame at a time, using just the single flash unit), and sometimes a red filter from my 35mm still camera that I held against the lens.  Thanks to Erik Franz for all the help that night.

Music: Boards of Canada - The Campfire Headphase - Chromakey Dreamcoat

Large version here (it’s ~90mb, so it might take a second).

Logic over Reason

Logic Pro 8 is a music production application. Reason is an application along the same lines, but it’s designed more as a means of creating sounds, whereas Logic can both produce sounds as well as record and mix them. I love Reason’s interface, which is modeled around real rack-mount gear; if you want to send a synthesizer through an effects module, you simply connect a patch cable (literally) between the two units. Logic behaves much more like a normal program with menus and parameters, stuff like that. Way more flexible, but also much more confusing and time consuming. But despite the complications, Logic is an incredibly impressive piece of software, and I totally dig it.
